Movies like Field of Dreams is the reason I love movies. Movies with stories that have never been done before, where you dont know what is going to happen next. There isnt any mind blowing special effects or major suspense, just a good story told like they were told a thousand years ago around a fire and a cup of mead. Field of Dreams is the story of a man who builds heaven in his back yard. Kevin Costner is about as dull and lifeless as he usually is, but the role didnt ask for much more so it wasnt so bad. James Earl Jones once again shows his extreme presence as an actor. Ray Liotta also has another great role. The story is wonderful and moving, only the ending seemed to go on forever. The DVD is only in Pro-logic and not anamorphic. The film doesnt really need a Dolby 5.1 channel track, but I havent heard a movie yet where it didnt make it better. There is an audio commentary track on the disc, but that really doesnt warrant the $35 MSRP. Worth the rental if you havent seen it, but cant recommend the buy unless you are a fanatic. Overall an excellent movie.
