This was the first DVD I picked up and I didnt even have a player yet. I am a big time fan of this movie. To me it is the definition of what SF movies should be. Where other movies have big space battles and $100 million dollar special effects, Blade Runner had the true idea of thought provoking futures and a city setting that created the benchmark for future movies. A simple story, a simple idea, but realistic acting and wonderful sets. The special effects are far from dated even in this world of computer generated graphics. This DVD is pretty weak unfortunatly. It contains the Ridly Scott Directors Cut, with no Deckard voice over and an added scene that makes the story a little more mysterious. It also doesnt have the fuzzy feel good ending that the normal American version had. The video is 16x9 enhanced, but the sound is only pro-logic, and could really use an update to Dolby Digital 5.1. There are no extras on this disc. Overall, a staple in every Sci-fi lovers collection.
