The prettier twin sister of Top Gun, Days of Thunder is one of those bad movies you kinda like. Maybe it is the chemistry between Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise (cant wait for Eyes Wide Shut!), maybe it is the twist of fates that turns enemies into friends, friends into enemies and back again, or maybe it is just a good time watching Tom Cruise saying "Uh oh, this is going to hurt" before slamming into his own pit at about 60 mph. Frankly, no movie about Nascar can be that good, but hell, this one is a good time. The acting is overdone, some of the hype just leaves me with the feeling like I am going to be sick (Kidmans character yelling "GO COLE" after saying how much she hates race car driving comes to mind), but overall I cant stop watching this movie. The DVD is kind of a lamer with the only major benefit being the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. The picture is not 16x9 enhanced and there are no extras. If you are a big fan, or just cant stand seeing Top Gun sitting all by itself, than go pick it up.
