The last of the four Alien movies, this flick had a lot to live up to, and frankly a lot of people felt that it needed to apologise for Alien 3. I am not one of them. Once again, if matching it up against what it COULD have been, it is about a one star. As it stands on its own, it is a solid three. Once again, our tormented heroine is thrown back into the clutches of evil, this time cloned 200 years after her death in 3. The millitary has finally got the sample it needs to begin breeding aliens and only a small group of smugglers get the chance to stop them. Once again we are treated to a wonderfully dark future, excellent special effects, good acting and even Winonna Ryder (ouch!). While Riplys charactor is quite hard to figure out, the story moves along so fast, you never have much time to contemplate it. This movie also has some of the most disturbing imagery and subjects I have ever seen in a science fiction movie, which fits right along with what they intended. The DVD is also top notch with a solid Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack and a beatiful 16x9 enhanced transfer. There is a small making of feature also included. Overall, an excellent chapter in the Alien cycle. Definitly pick up the boxed set!
