Episode 1 on DVD rumor

written by Mike Shea on 15 April 2000

This just in from The Digital Bits Rumor Mill:

We've got some extremely cool news for you today! This morning on KROQ radio in Los Angeles, morning show hosts Kevin and Bean interviewed George Lucas... and he specifically said that his team at Lucasfilm is currently working on the DVD version of Episode I.

Another friend of the Bits, who was visiting a post production facility in L.A. on business recently, noticed a box full of digital master tapes of Episode I in anamorphic widescreen and in multiple languages (the person was told that they're for the DVD).

It could all be bull, but we can only hope. If this is true than another enemy of DVD has been crushed under our boot!

Subject: More Star Wars info

This just in from The Bits:

"Yes, Lucasfilm has officially begun work on DVDs for the Star Wars films, but it is still far too soon to know which films will be released when and what the content will be. It is up to George to decide the content of the discs, and they will not be released in 2000, nor is there any firm date beyond this year."
